biography

James graduated from the University of Western Ontario with his Master of Music in Literature and Performance in 2012. ‘His voice is frickin' amazing’ (Donald D’Haene, Beat Magazine, 2010) and his interpretation of Sondheim has been described as ‘poignant and heartfelt’ (Gary Smith, The Hamilton Spectator).

Previous Musical directing credits include Blood Brothers, Godspell, Suds and Xanadu (HTI), The Wedding Singer, The Last Five Years (Hammer Entertainment) and The Rocky Horror Show (Village Theatre Waterdown). On the Last Five Years, Tom Mackan (View Magazine) wrote, "If anyone has the credentials for handling Brown’s score it’s James Medeiros... we owe a large debt to Medeiros for his disciplined direction of Brown’s words and music and the terrific success he’s achieved with his actors."

Equally versed as a singer on the opera and musical theatre stages, James has performed in productions of RENT, Into the Woods, The Power and Passion of Broadway, Let the Sunshine In, Gianni Schicchi, Street Scene, Putting it Together, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Man of La Mancha. As a soloist, James sung with ensembles including Orchestra London, the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Chorus Niagara, the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers, the McMaster University Choir, the Mohawk College Singers, the Niagara-on-the-Lake Sinfonia and Choralis Camerata.
